Chasing the Carrot

A midwestern college baseball star tries to go pro.

I was born and raised in Redwood City, California, just south of San Francisco. I have been married to the same great lady for eleven years and have two children. I earned a degree in Business from the University of Southern California and work as a Sales Engineer for a large testing laboratory in Orange County.

I wrote my first screenplay, "The Pretender," at the age of 15. It's a the story about two con artists looking to hit pay dirt with one last con before they retire. Problem was, they were only 17! I've been hooked on writing ever since.

With Chasing the Carrot, I wanted to get back to the basics of story telling. It's not a high octane, crash them up and bang them up type of story. It's about a struggle for the American dream by the most unlikely of characters, where a bit of talent, luck and being at the right place at the right time all play a part.

During my years in outside sales, I've come across many different personalities and situations. I draw from those experiences when I sit down to write. Many, if not all of the characters I create are loosely based on somebody I know, or have known.

a few words from gregory

My favorite script is "Erin Brockovich" by Susannah Grant. I love her style. She's easy to read and really brings her characters to life.

My goal is not to become the next Shane Black, or to win the academy award for best original screenplay. I write for the pure pleasure of it. It comes natural to me. Having just one person say, "nice piece of work, Gregg" is good enough. Anything more is a consolation prize.

projects

Currently, I am working on two other scripts. The first, titled "Modus Operandi," is a story about two investigators who, after another murder, focus on an individual who was acquitted of crime committed under similar circumstances.

The other is "Kicked Outta Buster's," a comedy about a guy going through a mid-life crisis-at the age of 17. Sound familiar?
