I've written poems, short stories, novels and four
screenplays -- Die Warped has placed in other contests. It's about a female assassin and an ex-Navy SEAL who engage in a deadly act of cat and mouse only to discover an undeniable attraction for one another. Her Brother's Death won the first annual eShay.com contest. My three-year stint in Hawaii allowed me to develop a rich and authentic location for this script. Also, the lead character, Mina, has depression and so do I, so it was easy to write her. Now Die Living is a winner. I am so proud of this script; I believe it is my best work yet. And it wouldn't cost much to make. That was one main thought when writing it. Unknown writers have a better chance of having their script made if the price isn't too high and there aren't that many characters or special effects. My newest script, Demons, is about a young woman with the perfect life who's dared by her three best friends to enter a contest where the winner receives six months of therapy. As the reluctant winner, she attends her sessions and discovers hidden demons from her childhood. |

few words from laura |
Writing screenplays is most enjoyable for me, and I love contests. I appreciate the script coverage I receive.anything to make my scripts stronger. I also enjoy editing screenplays and sometimes enter contests where the writers review scripts from other writers. I also have my own online editing service. My hope is to one day sell a screenplay, then another, and another. I find I make more important contacts with contests than by mailing or emailing query letters. I'd like to find an agent and/or a production company who believes in my work. |
