SOLIPSISM
Pronunciation: 'sO-l&p-"si-z&m,
Function: noun,
Etymology: Latin solus alone + ipse self.
Definition: The theory that ones self is the only existent thing.
Film: Now that you believe you are the center of the universe, and that all others exist to serve you, why not kill a few dozen people and find out if you are right? Can the entire universe revolve around one person?

Jonathan Kitzen is a recent convert to screenwriting with a diverse film background to draw upon. Kitzen worked as senior production manager for a New York Advertising agency before attending NYU's Tisch Graduate Film Program in the early 90's. Shortly thereafter he worked as an independent production manager before giving it all up and moving to Moscow on a whim. After starting a number of successful businesses in the former Soviet Union, Kitzen started a motion picture equipment custom manufacturing and export operation to great success.

Returning to the USA three years later, he built a film rental and studio business in New York City from scratch, which he then sold to a division of Mathew's Group in mid 1990. While supervising the sale of the business he purchased an old large movie theater which operated as both theater and live performance space. The theater has recently been sold to make way for writing.

Over the last decade he has had a hand in every aspect of film production from literally building the equipment to coordinating the production to projecting it in the theater. His diverse background has also encompassed film finance and packaging independent foreign production.

Currently he is trying to push forward his writing career while balancing his other various projects which include the first true Hi-Def 3D production company, 3D Universe, and starting his own religion. As Kitzen puts it "If you can't find a religion you like, make your own." Current projects include a novel on American Terrorists, and a military TV series, as well as numerous film scripts. This is only the beginning.

a few words from Jonathan

I feel that my diverse background has given me numerous experiences to draw upon as a writer. I am admittedly new to the profession, however I know that writing is the thing that I am meant to do. I have taken to heart the advice of Mr. Roger's, "Anyone can write, but a great writer must be prolific." While I started writing just 18 months ago, I decided that I needed to build up some product before shopping myself and to date have completed more than a dozen screenplays, which I am just now offering out.

My advantage is that I have a first hand take on the world that can only come from experience which I can incorporate into my writing. I know how to make a $3,000 investment into a $300,000 media company in one year, to feel the cold barrel of a Barretta sub-machine gun pressed to your temple in Africa, to watch the sun rise over the West Bank and hear the Call to Prayer, and to know the feeling that the men in Moscow who are knocking at your door are there to kill you, because I have experienced it all.

It is the essence of life that the thing we enjoy most should be the hardest to achieve. I do have a passion for story telling and the visual medium, and of all the things I have done in my life I find that writing gives me the most personal satisfaction. I hope that you find my stories as entertaining to read as I find they are to create.

KILLING SAINT GERMAIN

However, Saint Germain was later seen in 1860 and he had not aged a day! This is the story of one William Taldridge, an American gambler, who sets out to kill Saint Germain in 1841. Based on a series of true encounters and incidents. The X FILES meets the PATRIOT, historical sci-fi.

MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN

Deckard runs a large manufacturing operation in the off-world colonies where he is constantly fighting for survival. As Deckard expands his empire on the backs of tens of thousands of Replicant slaves, Jim discovers that a manufactured slave can be more human than his masters. SECOND COMING

TRENCH
In late 1917 you could get off a boat from the North Sea and walk into the start of the trench system and emerge almost 1800 miles later into the Adriatic Sea near Italy and never have stuck your head above the earth even once. The outside world is a slit of sky viewed from below. The air above the trench is a place of death and those who enter it must die or pay for their flaunting of life. The trench is both friend, and killer, and it is its own character with its own story and history. The film is not about the horror of war per se, but the horror of sleeping, eating, crapping, fighting, and dying in the Trench. It is about men who lived years of their lives in a mud slit in the ground. The Second World War is over-produced and the First World War has never been properly explored. Trench explores the horror and misery of WWI trench warfare that makes Saving Private Ryan look like it was fought in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. This is not an epic. It is a film where epic things happen in small places.
